Kandi Burruss & Psiryn Team Up for “The Softest,” a Tribute to Xscape’s Legacy
Fresh off making history as the first R&B girl group in over two decades to top the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart with their breakout hit Sober, Psiryn (pronounced Siren) isn’t slowing down. The trio returns with The Softest, a sensual reimagining of Xscape’s The Softest Place on Earth that blends nostalgia with new school intention.

The record originated with producer T-Nyce and songwriter Ashun, who flipped the original with a vision to create something intimate, powerful, and modern. They brought it to Kandi Burruss, who, along with her longtime production collaborator Jonathan “Jay-O” Henry and vocal producer Brandin Jay, helped develop the song into what it is now: a slow-burning anthem that honors the original while carving out space for the next generation.
When Kandi played the track for Psiryn (Anaya Chayenne, Jada Denise, and Victoria McQueen), the connection was immediate. No overthinking, no hesitation. Just three voices locked into something they knew was bigger than a single. This was a lineage moment.
“We didn’t just want to remake the song. We wanted to make it ours, while still honoring the women who gave it to us first,” the group shared.
The result is a lush, vocal-heavy record that doesn’t chase trends, it slows things down and invites you into a space where vulnerability, pleasure, and power all coexist. The harmonies hit. The lyrics pull you in:
“Baby, won’t you come inside / I’ll take you on a fantasy ride…”
The Softest marks a new chapter for Psiryn, not just as charting artists, but as cultural storytellers. From the raw emotion of Sober to the velvet intimacy of this latest release, the group is proving that soft doesn’t mean small. It means deliberate. It means controlled. It means knowing exactly who you are and how you show up.
